Norris Edges Out Piastri in Brazilian Practice

Lando Norris edged out team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the final moments of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The British racer, who grabbed the championship lead from his teammate by a single point after taking the win in Mexico City two weeks ago, topped the Australian by 0.023 seconds.

Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before sprint qualifying due at 18:30 GMT.

The Red Bull star, the only other driver in realistic title contention, trailing with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, ended up in 17th position as his team ran a alternative strategy.

Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, though minor, when he lost control at corner four soon after starting.

Tsunoda spun out over the curbs on exit before sliding over the run-off area, and was fortunate to avoid just a minor contact of the wall.

Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed corner before the final corner on to the pit straight.

The veteran wrapped up in P19, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc.

The McLaren pair were well clear of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's car P3, 0.619secs behind the Australian's time.

The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
